zz Nature Walks and Talks - T. Carreras (c.1910) - Edwardian hardback nature study book (SOLD)
Nature Walks and Talks - T. Carreras (c.1910) - Edwardian hardback nature study book (SOLD)
A nice example of an original early 20th century illustrated hardcover nature study book, intended for young ramblers: "The following pages - the result of many rambles and much out-door study - have been written to assist the young wanderer through our woods and fields and by our ponds and streams, in the direction of making a more thorough and intellectual study of some of the forms of animal life with which he is certain to meet, than he is commonly inclined to make." The first fifteen chapters cover such subjects as "The Colouring of Animals", snails and slugs, galls, wasps and earwigs, whilst the sixteenth, entitled "Nature-Picture Making", gives advice upon photographing nature from an artistic point of view.
Although this genuine Edwardian volume shows various signs of age (see condition description below), it remains complete and fully legible, and as such would make a lovely addition to a collection of antiquarian or vintage nature books.
