"National Dried Milk" (Welfare Foods Service) vintage baby milk powder tin (c.1960s) (SOLD)
A mid-1960s vintage British Welfare Foods Service "National Dried Milk" vintage baby milk powder tin (empty), with white / dark blue printed exterior, measuring approximately 17.9cm (7.05in) in height and 11.1cm (4.35in) in diameter. Although introduced during the Second World War, this product in fact remained available until 1976, as related here (external link, opens in new window - accessed 9-9-15); this particular example bears the "use by" date "NOV 65" (or 66?) to the base, and thus presumably dates from the mid-1960s - although it nevertheless has a WW2 appearance!
This genuine vintage collector's piece shows various signs of age including scratches, scuffs, small patches of loss and marks to the printed surface, varying degrees of tarnish to the non-printed surfaces (especially the lid exterior), some rust spots and patches (mainly to the lid and base) and indentations (most noticeably to the lid); in spite of these, it displays well, and would make a lovely addition to a collection of similar pieces.
