A 1950s vintage Meredith & Drew vintage commemorative biscuit tin (empty), produced as "A Souvenir of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, 1953", measuring approximately 23.2 x 11.2 x 6.4cm (9.15 x 4.4 x 2.5in) when closed. The outside of the tin is printed in greenish-blue with royal insignia and border designs in cream, gold and red, whilst there is a large circular colour portrait of the Queen to the lid; the base of the tin is printed as follows: "BISCUITS / Made in England by / MEREDITH & DREW LIMITED, LONDON, ENGLAND / Factories at / Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Brighouse, Cinderford, Halifax, Newmarket & Oldham / Net Weight 16oz (453 GRM.) / 6 MB MADE IN ENGLAND".
There is some age wear to the exterior including scratching, scuffing, marking and discoloration, with numerous rust spots and patches to the lid (and to a lesser extent to the sides and base), whilst there is some tarnish to the interior and to the exterior base together with some spots and small patches of rust; there are a few small dents and dings to the tin, whilst the sides are pushed very slightly out of shape in places.
