Crawford's vintage rectangular biscuit tin - "Sea Dreams" - Marie Lucas-Robiquet (c.1950s) (SOLD)
A c.1950s vintage rectangular biscuit tin (empty) by William Crawford & Sons Ltd, measuring approximately 17.1 x 24.1 x 5.8cm (6.75 x 9.5 x 2.3in), the lid printed with a portrait of a boy standing on a beach with sea and cliffs in the background, entitled "Sea Dreams"; the artist's name is partly worn away, but appears to read "Mme. Maugas-Posiquet". (Since selling this item, we have been informed that the image is reproduced from a painting by the French artist Marie Lucas-Robiquet, 1858-1959.)
There is a small remnant of an original paper label attached to the base. The lid is faded and discoloured, and there is considerable wear and scratching to the surface, together with some corrosion / rust and considerable tarnish to the interior and base.
