zz Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (1953) vintage commemorative pottery mug by Myott (SOLD)
Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (1953) vintage commemorative pottery mug by Myott (SOLD)
A vintage commemorative pottery mug by Myott, produced to mark the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (2nd June 1953), in pale cream glaze with a colour transfer design incorporating a sepia portrait of Her Majesty to one side; the base bears a small faint green printed "MYOTT / ENGLAND" stamp. Please note that there are various imperfections in the moulding, glaze and decoration, consistent with this being one of the more cheaply produced examples of its kind (probably intended for distribution to schoolchildren).
Whilst this genuine vintage piece shows various signs of age including crazing (see condition description below) - and, due to the crazing and other imperfections, we do not recommend that it be used for food or drink - it would display nicely in a vintage- or retro-style interior, or else would make a lovely addition to a collection of commemorative ware.
