Colin MacInnes, "England, Half English" (London, Macgibbon & Kee, 1961, first edition). Vintage hardback book (orange-red cloth boards) with original dustwrapper, 208pp, measuring approximately 14.5 x 22.2 x 2.5cm (5.7 x 8.75 x 1in). "England's most sensitive recorder of the contemporary scene looks back at the Fifties with love and relief. Just what did emerge from all those hopes and heartbreaks?" A collection of essays on various aspects of 1950s culture and society, reprinted from various periodicals, including "A Short Guide for Jumbles (to the Life of their Coloured Brethren in England)", "Pop Songs and Teenagers" and "The Englishness of Dr Pevsner".
The dustjacket is much discoloured with damp stains and other marks together with bumps, creases, tears, scratches and indentations, whilst the boards are slightly marked with slight edge wear, light creasing along the spine and bumping to the spine ends; there is some foxing to the inside covers / endpapers, and the front endpaper is slightly worn to one corner where an old price has been erased; the pages are discoloured with some foxing (especially to the page edges and end pages) and other occasional marks together with age wear including light creases and edge wear including scratches and indentations.
