zz Amesbury retro vintage pottery vase - rounded triangular shape, white and green with flower / star motif (c.1960s) (SOLD)
Amesbury retro vintage pottery vase - rounded triangular shape, white and green with flower / star motif (c.1960s) (SOLD)
An interesting retro pottery vase of genuine c.1960s vintage - characteristic of its era in style and design - measuring approximately 20.5cm (8.05in) in height and 8.3cm (3.25in) across at the base, moulded in a rounded triangular shape with recessed neck section, and finished in shiny white glaze to the main body and in dark green to the neck recess with a dark green transfer stylised flower or star motif to each side. The base bears the impressed mark "AMESBURY / MADE IN ENGLAND"; although Amesbury is a town in Wiltshire, England, we have not thus far been able to find any information about any pottery company of that name.
Please note that there is a hairline crack extending downwards from the rim (visible length about 1.4cm / 0.55in to the outside, perhaps longer to the inside), together with wear commensurate with age including scratching / abrasion and marking to the glazed surface and marking to the unglazed foot; the glaze is finely crazed throughout with some unevenness and other minor irregularities. The vase nonetheless remains both usable and displayable, and thus would make a great accessory for your retro-style living room.
