Richard Dimbleby, "The Waiting Year" (London, Hodder and Stoughton Limited, first edition - "First printed November, 1944"; "produced in complete conformity with the Authorised Economy Standards" of World War 2). Hardcover (buff cloth boards, red printed titles), 186pp, measuring approximately 13.7 x 20.9 x 1.8cm (5.4 x 8.25 x 0.7in). A semi-autobiographical novel, in which the renowned English journalist and broadcaster relates the experiences of John Mitchell, "war correspondent of a news agency", from the start of 1943 up to mid-1944, culminating in D-Day.
 
No dustjacket; the cover is discoloured with some fading, damp stains and brown spot marks, together with some age wear (especially to the edges and corners); the inside covers and endpapers are discoloured with foxing and other marks, the inside front cover having some surface creases and the front endpaper bearing an original gift inscription dated "Xmas 1944" in ink to the top right corner; the pages are likewise discoloured with tanning to edges and occasional marks together with some edge and corner wear including nicks / indentations, creases and the odd slight tear; the hinge at the front of the volume (between the first page and the title page) is partly cracked, the backing being visible to the lower half.
