Rev. J. H. Ingraham, LL.D., "The Prince of the House of David, or Three Years in the Holy City. With fifty-one illustrations" (London etc., George Routledge and Sons, Limited, 1894). Late Victorian hardback religious book with decorative binding (dark blue cloth boards with gilt titles and printed design in green and black), 335pp plus title, preface and contents pages, illustrations and four-page publisher's list of "new books and new editions", measuring approximately 14 x 19.9 x 4cm (5.5 x 7.85 x 1.55in). An account of the life of Jesus, presented as a series of letters written by "Adina, a Jewish maiden sojourning in Jerusalem in the days of King Herod" to her father. In addition to the fifty-one black and white illustrations, there are four in colour (including the frontispiece). This copy has an original inscription in ink - "Presented to May Kemp by the Illogan Downs [near Redruth, Cornwall] Wesleyan S[unday] Sch[oo]l January 1900" to the front flyleaf.
 
No dustjacket; there is some marking and discoloration to the cover together with age wear including wear to the decoration, scratches and scuffs to the surface, a few small patches of buckling to the cloth, light creasing along the spine, some tearing / splitting to the spine ends, and edge and corner wear; the pages are discoloured with tanning to the edges and various marks together with age wear including bumping to edges and corners and occasional creases; the rear flyleaf is missing, and one of the colour plates is loose, whilst the binding is somewhat weak in places.
