Lieut.-Commander J. E. Taylor, "The Last Passage" (London, George Allen & Unwin Ltd, "First published in 1946"). Vintage Second World War-related hardback book (blue cloth boards, white printed titles to spine) with original dustwrapper, 137pp plus frontispiece and 16 other black and white plates, measuring approximately 13 x 18.7 x 1.7cm (5.1 x 7.35 x 0.65in). An account of the sinking of a line of blockships to create a "gooseberry" shelter which developed into one of the Mulberry harbours created in preparation for the Allied invasion of Normandy beginning on D-Day (6 June 1944).

The dustjacket is very tatty with numerous creases and tears and some paper loss, together with considerable discoloration and marking (including foxing to the inside); the cover is to a lesser extent discoloured and marked with some bumping to the edges, wear to the edges and corners, and light creasing along the spine; the inside covers / endpapers are discoloured with some foxing, and the inside front cover bears an original gift inscription (dated 1947) in very faded ink; the pages are similarly discoloured with browning / light foxing to the edges, occasional indentations and slight edge wear.
