Captain James J. Pearce (with Foreword by Col. Malcolm Borwick), "The Horse Rampant: How to Learn to Train and Ride. A New and Simple Method for the Education and Training of Horses and Riders" (London, Robert Hale Limited, 1947). Vintage hardback equestrian book (straw-coloured cloth boards, gilt title to spine and horse and rider motif to front), 145pp, measuring approximately 18.8 x 24.7 x 1.6cm (7.4 x 9.7 x 0.65in). "This book is intended to teach beginners and others how to start with the educating of the riding-horse in all its different branches: the Hack, Hunter, Polo Pony, Children's Pony, and the Highly Schooled Horse." It is printed on good-quality paper, and includes several black and white illustrations.
 
No dustjacket; there is some discoloration and marking to the cover, together with slight warping and surface wear including scratching to the boards, and slight to moderate edge and corner wear; the inside covers and endpapers are discoloured and slightly marked, the front flyleaf bearing an old inscription in blue ink and an old (pre-decimal) price in pencil; there is some discoloration and slight marking to the pages with light tanning to the edges, together with a few creases and edge nicks.
