Product description

Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary (1935) commemorative beaker by Newhall (A)

A Newhall (Hanley) vintage commemorative pottery beaker in off-white glaze with colour transfer decoration, measuring approximately 11.5cm (4.55in) in height and 7.4cm (2.9in) in diameter at the top, produced to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary (1910-1935); the base bears the "OFFICIAL DESIGN / BRITISH POTTERY MANUFACTURERS FEDERATION" colour transfer Union Jack and garter mark together with a dark green printed "NEWHALL / HANLEY STAFFS" mark, an impressed "PATENT APPLIED FOR" stamp and a small pale brown painted mark.

The glaze is crazed throughout with several tiny spot marks and some minor scratches; there is some manufacturing roughness together with a largish nibble (which might also date from manufacture) to the foot.
