Antique early electric pink opal glass lampshade - Arts and Crafts leaf design
A nice example of an early 20th century antique (c.1900-20) early electric pendant lampshade / light shade in pale pink opal glass, of five-sided crimped pattern with an Arts and Crafts-inspired transfer design of figs and garlands of ivy leaves.
This genuine old shade inevitably shows some signs of age including one or two nibbles to the base edge, some wear and fading / discoloration to the transfer design, and slight roughness around the lampholder hole (not visible when the shade is hung), together with manufacturing inconsistencies such as may be expected in pieces of this nature. However, it remains usable* and displayable, and would look lovely in a suitable period room setting.
*Please note that the lampholder hole is slightly smaller than standard size, and thus the shade is unlikely to fit a present-day standard UK plastic pendant lampholder - although it should fit its metal equivalent.
