William Canton, "A Child's Book of Saints" (Everyman's Library, ed. Ernest Rhys - "For Young People" series; London, J. M. Dent & Co. / New York, E. P. Dutton & Co.; first published 1906, 2nd reprint August 1907). Hardcover (blue cloth boards with "flat back"), 266pp including title / introductory pages and illustrations, measuring approximately 11.1 x 17.6 x 2.6cm (4.35 x 6.95 x 1in). In this work, originally published in 1898, according to the Editor "The Saints are here treated with a simplicity that is almost or altogether childlike, and with an unforced imagination which is only to be learnt by becoming as a child. And this is perhaps why, although comparatively a new book, it has the air of something pleasantly old, and written long ago." There are fourteen full-page black and white illustrations in the Arts and Crafts style by T. H. Robinson, in addition to the Arts and Crafts style title pages and inside covers / endpapers common to early Everymans. No dustjacket; the cover is discoloured and marked with age wear including a puncture / indentation near the top of the spine and some small indentations to the back cover, slight splitting to the cloth at the spine edge and wear to edges and corners; there is some discoloration to the pages with some marks including the odd pencil mark, together with slight tearing to some page edges (a few of which are roughly cut) and slight wear to edges and corners; the original owner's inscription in ink, dated 1908, appears on page 3 (the page before the title pages).
