This "Vogue's Book of Smart Dressmaking", published by The Conde Nast Publications Ltd in magazine form, is undated but clearly belongs to the Second World War or the years immediately following, with its references on the cover and in the introduction to clothing coupons and the current need for economy, and its advertisements inside the covers and on the penultimate page, one of which features the "CC41" Utility Mark. The book consists of 64 pages excluding cover; the pages each measure approximately 21.7 x 27.8cm (8.55 x 10.95in). There is a major vertical crease all the way through the book, together with other slight creasing, bumping to edges and corners (especially to the cover), and age discoloration, slight marks and imperfections to the wartime-grade paper; the cover has become detached and is worn and torn at the fold, and there is some rust to the staples.
