Vintage wooden darning mushroom

A vintage wooden darning mushroom, age uncertain but perhaps 1930s-50s, approximately 11cm long and 6cm in diameter at its widest.  It is somewhat roughly made, with holes, nicks and rough grain edges, and a narrow split visible along about three quarters of the length of the handle (at its narrower sections); it has, however, acquired some patina in places.
