Vintage sommerso glass dish or large ashtray with controlled bubble pattern, c.1950s-60s

A c.1950s-60s vintage sommerso glass dish or large ashtray with controlled bubble pattern (probably Murano although reminiscent of Whitefriars in appearance), pale amber in colour with reddish-brown edges and small clear areas to the outer recesses.  The piece varies between 14.5 and 16cm (5.7 and 6.3in) in diameter, and stands approximately 4.5cm (1.75in) tall.  There are numerous scratches and scuffs to the surface (mostly to the underside and the rim), together with some wear and scratching to the foot; there are some small air bubbles which do not form part of the controlled bubble pattern as well as some large bubbles open to the outer edge, amongst other manufacturing irregularities.
