A c.1930s sandwich set, consisting of a rectangular sandwich tray in pale cream glaze (slightly deeper than it appears in the photos) with handpainted orange, golden brown and black decoration, measuring approximately 32.5 x 15 x 2.6cm (12.8 x 5.9 x 1in), which holds six matching square sandwich plates, each measuring approximately 13.3 x 13.3cm (5.25 x 5.25in). Each piece has a black printed stamp depicting a crown and rope with the words "MADE IN ENGLAND"; the tray also has a black painted number 6090 plus a small orange mark, whilst the plates bear the impressed mark "W 632". The tray is crazed throughout with some light brown staining, and four of the plates also show varying degrees of crazing, whilst all the pieces have slight to moderate age wear including some scratching and slight wear to the painted decoration. One plate has a small chip to the edge, which appears unglazed but is partly covered by the painted decoration (and therefore presumably dates from manufacture), whilst another has a small indent to the edge, which is fully glazed over; there are other minor manufacturing irregularities, especially to the glaze on the undersides.
