A c.1940s vintage Mexican hand-carved wooden souvenir ashtray in the shape of a sombrero, with three small bone feet, measuring approximately 10.3cm (4.05in) in diameter and 3.4cm (1.35in) in height including feet, carved with a design (with black finish to some areas) incorporating the words "TIJUANA . MEXICO . 1944 * MOTHER" around the outside and the word "MEXICO" again around the crown of the hat. There is a small chunk (about 0.6 x 0.4cm / 0.25 x 0.15in) missing from the rim, together with discoloration, marking and general age wear including scratching and scuffing to the surface and wear to the black finish.
