An early 20th century vintage Holophane-type ceiling lampshade / light shade with external fluting and frilled lower edge, in clear pressed glass, measuring approximately 11.2cm (4.4in) in height and 16.1cm (6.35in) in diameter (max), with the opening measuring approximately 5.5cm (2.15in) in external diameter at the top; there are no trade marks or patent numbers. Although originally intended for use in commercial or public buildings (as a pendant or batten fitting, or with an electrolier), this shade is also suitable for domestic use; it will need to be used in conjunction with a 2 1/4 inch gallery (shade holder) or other lampholder fitting of similar diameter, neither of which is included; reproduction galleries in brass or chrome finish are available from specialist dealers. There is some age wear including some nibbles and rough patches to the exterior, a small chip and a few nibbles to the inside lower edge, and some nibbling and roughness to the top (which is of course hidden by the gallery / fitting when the shade is in use), whilst there are numerous tiny paint specks to the exterior; there are numerous manufacturing imperfections including unevenness to the surface, roughness to the moulding seam lines, and lines and air bubbles in the glass. (We have three other similar shades available, each for sale separately.)
