A faintly mottled grey-green Bakelite (or other early plastic) darning mushroom, c.1930s, with lid which unscrews to allow internal storage of darning needles, measuring approximately 10cm long, the lid being about 7.1cm in diameter. The mushroom, which is marked "MADE IN ENGLAND" to the inside, has a small chip to the edge of the lid, together with several nibbles and some roughness to its various edges; there is some age wear including many light scratches to the lid, and the exterior has darkened slightly with age (when compared to the interior), there being a slightly lighter patch to the lid where an old price label had been stuck.
