A late 1940s or early 1950s vintage glass hanging bowl (or "flycatcher") lampshade / light shade, with pale yellow / opal internal finish to the sides, internally textured centre, and textured floral pattern with red painted dots (somewhat reminiscent of the frosted decoration of late Victorian shades) and gilt banding to the exterior, measuring approximately 30.5cm (12in) in diameter and 13cm (5.1in) deep excluding hooks. There is a small Y-shaped crack about 1cm (0.4in) across near the centre of the shade (which cannot be felt on the outside), together with some age wear including scratching and slight marking to the surface, slight wear to the internal finish and slight to moderate wear to the gilt, whilst there are some manufacturing imperfections in the glass including lines and air bubbles; the hooks are much blackened and marked, and are loosely fitted (i.e. the nuts are not fully tightened, as they will not turn). Please note that the chains shown in two of the photos are not included; however, suitable chains are readily obtainable from any good ironmonger's shop or DIY store.
