An unusual and appealing vintage jug flask, c.1930s, measuring approximately 24cm (9.45in) tall (excluding stopper) and 9.9cm (3.9in) in diameter at the base, in light blue and white speckled Bakelite (strictly speaking, probably urea formaldehyde) with black plastic base and black bitumen or hard rubber and cork stopper; both sides of the body are moulded with an attractive floral design. The base is marked "THE BRITISH VACUUM FLASK CO. LTD. / LONDON / MADE IN ENGLAND". There are a few slight marks and scratches to the body, together with some discoloration at the top around the opening; there is some age wear, scratching, slight chipping and nibbling to the edge of the base. The stopper is cracked and scratched with numerous chips, whilst part of the cork has broken off and the remainder fits fairly loosely, and there is considerable wear and tarnish to the silvering of the glass liner. In view of the condition of the stopper and liner, this flask is sold as a collectable or decorative piece rather than for use.
