Vintage address stamp / embosser by Rufford, with Weston-super-Mare address, c.1930s

A c.1930s vintage address stamp / embosser by Rufford, measuring approximately 12.5cm (4.9in) in height including lever and 12.4 x 6cm (4.9 x 2.35in) at the base, in heavy cast metal with original red gloss painted finish with manufacturer's gold and black transfer label, with original die stamp for "HALDENBY, / 125, MILTON ROAD, / WESTON-SUPER-MARE. / TEL. 3754".  The mechanism still works smoothly and easily, although there is some rust to the die stamp which leaves slight rust marks to the edges of the embossed characters; there is some manufacturing unevenness to the casting of the press itself, with wear and marking together with small patches of loss to the painted finish and some rust to the die block and bolts; the original baize to the base is very worn and rust-marked, with surface rust visible to the exposed metal.
