A Victorian ornamental cup and saucer, broadly octagonal in shape, in shiny white glaze with gilt decoration and coloured transfer depictions of a water mill. The saucer measures approximately 11.1cm (4.35in) across, whilst the cup stands approximately 5.8cm (2.3in) tall; neither has any identifying marks. The saucer has a chip about 0.8cm (0.3in) long to the underside edge (just visible from the top), with a short crack of similar length radiating from it, plus a couple of tiny nibbles; there is a crack (with associated nibbling) around the top part of the handle of the cup near its juncture with the rest of the handle and the body of the cup. The transfer design on the saucer is fairly worn (less so on the cup), and there is considerable wear to the gilt of both pieces, together with wear to the feet, some spots, small marks and small lumps in the glaze.
