A "Quick Meal Cooker Wick for Lorain High-Speed Burners", produced by Veritas, c.1930s, unused in its original box (with illustration of a Lorain stove or burner to one side). The box, which measures approximately 7.3 x 7.5 x 10.2cm (2.85 x 2.95 x 4in), is discoloured, marked and worn with creases and slight tearing, and there is some rust to the metal carrier attached to the wick. The top edge of the wick is charred - this is not a sign of use, since the wick was supplied thus so that it would "produce a steady, even flame when first lighted".
