"Velasquez" (from the "Los Grandes Pintores" series, in Spanish, c.1920)

Anon., "Velasquez" (No. 2 in the "Los Grandes Pintores" series; Paris, Casa Editorial Hispano-Americana, undated but probably c.1920).  Hardback, measuring approximately 15.4 x 20.4 x 1.5cm (6.05 x 8.05 x 0.6in), and containing 79 pages (in Spanish throughout) plus eight colour plates featuring works by the great Spanish painter.  An original label from a Buenos Aires bookseller or library is attached to the inside of the front cover, and there is a short inscription to the front endpaper.  The cover is much discoloured and worn with some loss to the surface of the spine, and the endpapers are much browned; the pages have discoloured with age, and there is foxing throughout, especially to the page edges (many of which are roughly cut), whilst the frontispiece is loose.
