Ucal Seidlitz Powders tin (United Chemists Association Ltd), c.1920s-30s

A c.1920s-30s vintage "Ucal Seidlitz Powders" tin (empty) with hinged lid, by the United Chemists Association Ltd, London and Cheltenham Spa, measuring approximately 11.1 x 7.6 x 4.5cm (4.35 x 3 x 1.75in).  The exterior is printed in cream, purple, black and gilt, whilst the inside lid is finished in gilt with a printed advertisement promoting Ucal as "the largest organisation of chemists (qualified by state examination) that this country has ever known"; the outside base bears the remnant of the original retailer's label, along with some patches of solder (which suggest that the tin was put to use in a workshop once the original contents were used up).  There is considerable age wear to the exterior including scratching, scuffing, slight print loss, under-print tarnish spotting and patches of corrosion together with some marks; the interior and base are very much tarnished with some rust; the lid is somewhat battered, and there are some minor indentations to the sides and base of the tin.
