Two vintage boxes of mending thread, c.1940s-50s, as follows: 1. A box of "Fil d'Or Mercerised Cotton Mending", measuring approximately 9 x 6.8 x 2.2cm (3.55 x 2.7 x 0.85in), containing nine of its original twelve balls of hose mending thread in different shades; 2. A "Glista Utility Box", measuring approximately 15 x 5.9 x 1.3cm (5.9 x 2.3 x 0.5in), containing ten card spools of mercerised hose mending, lingerie mending and rayon hose mending thread in different colours (one is nearly used up, the rest retain a good amount of thread). The Fil d'Or box is very tatty, torn and discoloured, with loose and partly missing cellophane window, and the Glista box is in a similar state, with the remains of an old price sticker attached to the cellophane; the threads appear to be usable although there may be occasional slight marks and discoloration to some.
