A c.1950s vintage Twinco "Slidaway" (or "Slideaway") collapsible hair or clothes brush, in pale orange-brown marbled plastic with black (possibly natural) bristles; the lid slides off to reveal the bristles folded flat, and slides under the bristles to hold them horizontal. The inside of the lid is marked "TWINCO / "SLIDAWAY" / MADE IN ENGLAND BR. & / WORLD PATENTS PENDING". (The US Patent for this brush - number 2774096 - was filed in 1955 and published in 1956.) The brush, which measures approximately 10.3 x 5.9 x 1.1cm (4.05 x 2.3 x 0.45in) when closed, has some light scratching and mild to moderate general age wear to the plastic, together with moderate wear and slight loss to the bristles.
