"The Treasure Book of Comics" (London, Odhams Press Ltd, c.1950s). Boys' comic / story book with board covers and cloth spine, 126pp, measuring approximately 18.5 x 25.4 x 2.2cm (7.3 x 10 x 0.85in). This book, with pictorial front covers showing a variety of characters of various nationalities and occupations emerging from a treasure chest, contains several "comics and picture stories" - some of which would now be considered politically incorrect - by Walter Holton, Cecil Orr and others (some in full colour, some two-tone or black and white), together with six stories for boys by various authors (including a Biggles story "The Case of the Secret Inquisitors" by Captain W. E. Johns) with black and white illustrations, and instructions for making an electric crane, plus colour frontispiece. No dustjacket; the cover is marked with age wear including scratches and scuffs, bumping to edges and corners, and fading and marking to the spine; there is an indentation to the front endpaper where an old pencilled price has been rubbed out; the pages have discoloured with age, with some foxing, creases and occasional tears.
