Hardcover (dark red cloth boards with embossed Art Nouveau-style design to front and spine, with somewhat blurred yellow printed lettering), approximately 316pp including frontispiece, measuring approximately 12.7 x 18.8 x 3.4cm (5 x 7.4 x 1.35in). A classic boys' public school story, first published in 1881. No dustjacket; there is some weakness to the binding; the cover is marked and discoloured with age wear including slight warping to the front board, wear and bumping to the corners, wear, bumping and nibbling to the edges, and slight tearing to the top of the front cover hinge; the inside covers and endpapers are discoloured with foxing and other marks, the front endpaper being heavily creased with slight tearing; the pages are discoloured with foxing and other marks, edge and corner wear, and some creasing including a heavy crease to the contents page.
