A "Take Courage" advertising studio-type pottery pub water jug, c.1950s, measuring approximately 14.7cm (5.8in) in height and 7.9cm (3.1in) in diameter at the base, glazed in black (semi-gloss) to the exterior and white to the interior, with an impressed "TAKE COURAGE" slogan and applied cockerel trademark medallion; the base is marked with a small "X" or cross near the edge. The style of the jug is at least partially reminiscent of Prinknash Pottery, who have produced various brewery advertising pieces over the years, although we have not been able to ascertain whether or not they actually produced this jug. There is some crazing to the interior, together with a few marks and occasional scratches to the exterior and some age wear / marking to the foot; there are some minor manufacturing irregularities, such as might be expected in a studio-type piece of this kind.
