A vintage barometer by Smiths, c.1950, in metal with a clear transparent acrylic (Perspex or Lucite) surround supported by a late Art Deco chrome foot, measuring approximately 12 x 12 x 4cm (4.7 x 4.7 x 1.55in) excluding the knob in the centre of the dial; the surround above the dial is marked "R.J. HAMER & SONS (PAINTS) LTD. / MITCHAM 2064-5". The barometer does not appear to be in working order (the needle has hardly moved in several weeks, and the small adjusting screw at the back is very worn and damaged), and is therefore sold as a collector's item only. There is some corrosion, marking and general wear to the aluminium back cover, whilst the dial is marked, spotted and perhaps discoloured, and there is some pitting and age wear to the chrome foot and trim; there is slight to moderate surface wear to the Perspex surround.
