Small lidded metal box / tin with black japanned / painted finish, c.1930s-50s

A c.1930s-50s vintage small lidded metal box or tin with black japanned / gloss painted finish, measuring approximately 7.3 x 4.1 x 1.4cm (2.85 x 1.6 x 0.55in); there are no maker's marks, and we are unsure of the tin's original purpose - it may originally have been a removable compartment from a larger metal box.  There is considerable age wear including scratching and scuffing to the surface, loss to the painted finish, and some corrosion under the finish plus the odd tiny rust spot; the sides of the base have been pushed inwards with corresponding indentations, and there are a couple of other smaller indentations.
