A c.1930s pottery planter by Shorter and Son, of very distinctive Art Deco shape with fluted pattern to the sides, measuring approximately 18.8cm (7.4in) across at the base and 7.3cm (2.85in) in height, finished in a shiny dark pink / pale red glaze. The base bears the impressed or incised mark "SHORTER ENGLAND 199" together with a printed stamp which reads "SHORTER & SON LTD / STOKE-ON-TRENT / MADE IN / GREAT BRITAIN". The surface is crazed throughout, whilst there are some scratches to the interior, a few slight scratches to the exterior, a few marks and some manufacturing irregularities; overall, however, the planter is in very good condition.
