"Schoolboys' Bumper Book" ("Great Stories for Boys") (London and Glasgow, The Children's Press, c.1930s). Boys' story book with board covers and printed cloth spine, approximately 155pp plus three colour plates (a fourth plate is missing), measuring approximately 21 x 27.6 x 4.2cm (8.25 x 10.85 x 1.65in). This book, with pictorial front cover showing a boy in a red swimsuit crossing a groyne on a beach with his dog, contains stories by various authors including "Kianda and Co." by John W. Ray and "Saving St. Colston's" by Sydney Horler, together with articles on Rugger, Batsmanship and Polo, and some black and white illustrations. No dustjacket; the cover is discoloured and marked with age wear including bumping to corners and wear to edges, and the spine is discoloured and marked with slight fraying, whilst the binding is somewhat loose; there is considerable tanning and some marking to the pages with some signs of old insect attack around the base of the spine near the front and to the bottom corners of a few of the central pages.
