A commemorative china bell (with varnished wooden handle and plastic clapper on metal chain) by ASL, produced to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer (29 July 1981), in white glaze with colour transfer decoration to both sides (the main transfer incorporating a joint portrait in sepia) and gilt trim, and measuring approximately 18cm (7.1in) tall including handle and 9.7cm (3.8in) in diameter at the base; the inside of the bell (which produces a clear high-pitched ring) bears the printed mark "ASL / Stoke-on-Trent". There is some wear to the handle including chipping to the varnish at the top and to the protruding ledge; there is slight surface wear to the china including a few scratches and spots of abrasion to the surface together with slight wear and imperfections to the decoration, whilst the unglazed rim is marked and stained with some roughness from manufacture; the clapper is discoloured, and there is slight corrosion and tarnish to the chain fixing.
