A 1930s Royal Staffordshire "The Biarritz" rectangular plate, measuring approximately 26.5 x 21.1cm (10.45 x 8.3in), in cream glaze with transfer cottage, tree and flower designs and orange rim. The printed mark to the base incorporates a crown and the registration number 784849, and there is a handpainted code which appears to read "4935/Y". There are some scratches (some fairly deep) to the surface, together with slight wear to the transfers; there is an unglazed chipped patch to the underside of the bottom left corner, together with a small unglazed patch to the top right corner, a partly glazed elliptical recess to the centre of the bottom underside edge, and a few other small manufacturing irregularities.
