Rowntree's "fruit bowl" confectionery tin (converts into bonbon dish), c.1930s

A c.1930s vintage Rowntree's round chocolate or sweet tin, with printed and gilt design with fruit bowl motif and swirls on a blue-black background to the exterior, gilt finish to the interior and "ROWNTREE YORK" tree trademark stamped in a gilt recess to the base; the raised circle to the centre of the lid fits into this recess, and thus enables the tin to be turned into a bonbon dish to display its contents!  The tin, which measures approximately 15cm (5.9in) in diameter and 7.5cm (2.95in) tall when closed, has some age wear including scratching, loss and discoloration to the printed finish and tarnish spotting to the gilt of the exterior, scratching and tarnish to the interior, and some rust spots and small rust patches.
