Rowntree's "flower basket" confectionery tin (converts into bonbon dish), c.1930s

A c.1930s vintage Rowntree's chocolate or sweet tin in the form of a basket of flowers, with gilt finish to interior and "ROWNTREE YORK" tree trademark stamped in a gilt recess to the base; the raised oval to the centre of the lid fits into this recess, and thus enables the tin to be turned into a bonbon dish to display its contents!  The tin, which measures approximately 17.2 x 12.1 x 6.6cm (6.75 x 4.75 x 2.6in) overall when closed, has some age wear including scratching, slight loss and discoloration to the printed exterior, some tarnish to the gilt, the odd small indentation, and a few rust spots and small rust patches.
