Rowntree's "Dairy Box" chocolate tin (half pound size), c.1930s-50s

A c.1930s-50s vintage Rowntree's of York "Dairy Box" chocolate / confectionery tin (empty), with hinged lid, measuring approximately 14.2 x 9 x 4.4cm (5.6 x 3.55 x 1.75in).  The tin, which originally contained half a pound of chocolates, is printed to the exterior in cream, brown and greenish blue with depictions of the original contents; the outside base and inside lid are finished in gilt.  There is some age wear to the exterior including numerous scratches, some scuffs, slight print loss and some small patches of rust / corrosion, together with slight fading and various marks including those left by the original sticky tape seal, whilst there is some tarnish spotting to the outside base; there is some tarnish and rust to the inside lid, and the interior is heavily tarnished with some rust; there are some small indentations to the sides of the tin.
