Robin Starch ("The New Starch"), unopened, c.1900-30

An early packet of Robin Starch ("The New Starch"), with pictorial robin trademark, by Reckitt & Sons, Hull and London, measuring approximately 7.5 x 6 x 5cm / 2.95 x 2.35 x 1.95in (size C).  Robin Starch was first sold in 1899, and the design of this packet is similar to one displayed on another website which is stated to date from 1905; we do not know how long this design remained in use, but it is probably pre-1930, and certainly dates from no later than 1938, when Reckitt & Sons merged with J&J Colman to form Reckitt & Colman.  There is an area of fading to one corner (probably caused by damp), together with some discoloration and marking; there is some creasing / wrinkling and a slight tear to the label, together with slight bumping to the edges and general age wear.
