Rev. William Adams, "Sacred Allegories" (1876)

Rev. William Adams, M.A., "Sacred Allegories" ("New Edition, with Illustrations") (London etc., Rivingtons, 1876).  Hardcover (green cloth boards with attractive lightly embossed black printed and gilt design), unpaginated, measuring approximately 12.3 x 16.6 x 3.2cm (4.85 x 6.55 x 1.25in).  This volume contains the allegories "The Shadow of the Cross", "The Distant Hills", "The Old Man's Home" and "The King's Messengers", first published in the 1840s, with a number of black and white illustrations.  No dustjacket; the cover is marked and discoloured with age wear including a short split to the front spine hinge, wear to the edges and corners, and bumping to the corners and spine ends; the inside covers and endpapers are marked and discoloured, and the pages are discoloured with occasional foxing and other marks together with slight wear to the edges and corners; there is some weakness to the binding in places.
