Retro "lobster pot" lampshade, c.1960s

A large c.1960s retro lampshade / light shade, somewhat resembling a lobster pot in appearance, probably intended for use as a pendant shade although it could be used for a table lamp.  The shade, which measures approximately 24.2cm (9.55in) tall and 21.6cm (8.5in) wide, consists of an octagonal white-painted metal frame criss-crossed with dark blue twine cord, with a thin translucent plastic tube (approximately 10.4cm / 4.1in in diameter) in the centre; the lampholder hole measures approximately 2.9cm (1.15in) in diameter, and will fit a standard UK plastic pendant lampholder.  The translucent tube, which has a visible vertical joint line, is very much discoloured by heat through years of use, and has some other brown marks and age wear, together with a small crack at the top where it adjoins the frame; the plastic rings at the top and bottom are also discoloured and marked with scratching and general wear.  The metal frame is discoloured with brown marks probably caused by rust beneath the paint, and one of the vertical bars is slightly pushed out of shape.  The twine has several white emulsion paint marks (especially at the top end) together with discoloration and general wear; the criss-crossing is not even throughout, some of the cords being easily pulled out of place.
