A delightful collection of 26 short pieces for young pianists, each with an accompanying illustration (half in black and white, half in colour), including "The Canary" ("See if you can make your tune hop and chirrup like the canary"), "Witches' Waltz" ("You must make this piece very mysterious"), "Black Boys Leap Frog" ("This little tune bounces up and down like the black boys") and "The Barrel Organ" ("This is a vulgar little tune like you hear in the street"). The cover has become detached, and is discoloured with foxing and other marks, tears, creases and general wear; the pages are discoloured with varying degrees of foxing and other marks, corner creases, bumping to edges and corners, and general wear; there is some rust to the staples, with slight rust staining to the adjacent paper.
