A vintage (1963 or earlier) Price Bros Cottage Ware handpainted preserve pot with lid, measuring approximately 10cm (3.95in) in height including lid and 6.3 x 6.1cm (2.5 x 2.4in) at the base, which bears a pale blue-grey printed Price Bros stamp (as used up to 1963) together with a small painted mark, and is impressed "MADE IN / ENGLAND". The lid has a small chip to one corner of the "chimney" together with three hairline cracks, and the surfaces of both pot and lid are finely crazed throughout with some staining to the interior, together with occasional scratches, and perhaps some wear to the painted decoration; there are various manufacturing imperfections including numerous spot marks, some small lumps and occasional pinholes in the glaze.
