Player's tobacco / cigarette advertising mirror ("Player's Please"), c.1940s

A c.1940s vintage Player's tobacco / cigarette advertising mirror, comprising a round looking glass set in a thin metal showcard-type frame finished to the front in old gold with the printed slogans "IT'S THE TOBACCO THAT COUNTS" and "Player's Please", with card backing with folding stand and hanging hook attached; the frame measures approximately 19.2 x 24.2cm (7.55 x 9.55in), whilst the visible area of the glass measures approximately 11.1cm (4.35in) in diameter.  There is considerable wear, marking and discoloration to the surface throughout, with some corrosion to the surface of the metal, large areas of loss to the gold finish around the edges with some verdigris-like green staining, and a short crack to the back edge; there is a large patch of wear to the silvering of the mirror together with some light scratching to the glass.
