Children's picture story book with board covers and cloth spine, approximately 88pp, measuring approximately 19.6 x 26.5 x 1.6cm (7.7 x 10.45 x 0.65in). This scarce book for young children, with attractive pictorial cover showing a little girl in dungarees sitting on a wall with a rabbit and dog against a dark green background (the same picture appears on the front and back covers, with the title to the front cover only), contains stories and poems plus several black and white and some two-tone illustrations; as the title implies, animals feature prominently in the contents. There would originally have been a colour frontispiece opposite the title page, but this is sadly missing from this copy, which is otherwise in generally good condition for its age. No dustjacket; there is moderate age wear to the covers including slight marking and bumping to corners and some fading to the top half of the back cover; there is some marking to the inside front cover (which bears an inscription in ink addressed to the original owner) and front endpaper; the pages are tanned with occasional marks but remain in good condition overall.
