An early 20th century cheese dish (souvenir of Margate), the lid measuring approximately 6.9cm (2.7in) in height (at the taller end, excluding the handle), the base approximately 16.8 x 12.8cm (6.6 x 5.05in). The lid is glazed deep orange with a pictorial transfer of "Palm Bay, Margate" to one side, whilst the base is pale greeny-yellow glazed with some white patches to the top but unglazed to the bottom; the underside of both base and lid are marked with the same red printed "Foreign Made" stamp. There are a few small chips to the inside edge of the lid, besides some wear from age and use; traces remain of a gilt band around the base edge.
